CFL Group's turnover exceeds the threshold of €1 billion for the first time

For the CFL Group, 2021 was a year of recovery and recovery after a year 2020 marked by the social and economic consequences of the health crisis on the performance of the CFL Group.

Financially, the CFL Group is posting one of the best results recorded so far in 2021. This is how the CFL Group closed the 2021 financial year with a consolidated net profit of 20.9 million. Compared to 2020, the net result increased by 16.3 million from 4.6 million in 2020 to 20.9 million in 2021. The net amount of the Group's turnover exceeds, for its part, for the first time, the threshold of one billion euros, increasing from 915.9 million in 2020 to 1001.7 million in 2021 and thus increasing by 9.37% compared to 2020. Beyond the fact that these financial results can be described as excellent, it is essential to underline that these results also testify to the solidity of the CFL Group.

However, the number of passengers transported fell from 14.5 million in 2020 to 16.6 million in 2021 after the sharp drop in 2020, which had recorded a 42% decrease in the total number of people transported (25 million in 2019 , 14.5 million in 2020). Despite these negative repercussions, the CFL Group has succeeded in maintaining the high level of 92.1% of the punctuality rate of trains, which is an essential criterion for assessing the quality of services in the national and international context.

Freight activities, for their part, made a very positive contribution to the overall result, achieving a consolidated net result of 6.0 million, up 5.2 million compared to 2020. In this area, it is important to emphasize that the year 2021 was marked by the launch of a new intermodal link between the Bettembourg-Dudelange terminal and Rostock, thereby completing the offer to northern Germany and Scandinavia, and by the restart of the intermodal link with Poznan. During 2021, the new Secure Road Center (CRS) and the new CFL technics workshop on the Bettembourg-Dudelange site were also put into service.
