European Union (EU) agreements with African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (former ACP countries)
The European Commission summarizes on its website the rules concerning trade preferences applicable to the African, Caribbean and Pacific States having concluded agreements with the EU which are compatible with the rules of the World Trade Organization.
Agreement between the EU and Canada
The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on January 14, 2017 and was approved by the European Parliament on February 15, 2017. It still needs to be approved national parliaments before it enters into force.
Agreement between the EU and Ecuador
Since 1 January 2017, Ecuador has integrated the trade agreement linking the EU to Peru and Colombia. Its accession has been ratified by Decision (EU) 2016/2369 of 11 November 2016.
System of Generalized Preferences (SPG)
The list of developing countries benefiting from or eligible for import tariff preferences in the EU has been updated. Cameroon, Fiji, Georgia, Iraq and the Marshall Islands are removed from the list of countries eligible for the GSP on 1 January 2017.
Due to the establishment of the EU/Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, Ukraine will exit the GSP on 1 January 2018.
The REX system and the registered exporter status entered into force in Luxembourg on 1 January 2017.
