As part of the Luxembourg Government's strategy to turn the country into a laboratory for transport innovation, Luxembourg is planning to invest €3.8 billion over the next 10 years to upgrade its railway network and develop modern transportation terminals. The River Port of Mertert will be linked with the Bettembourg multimodal terminal, with rail operator CFL working on plans to connect the hub with a new 'Silk Road' rail route to China.
